Back to Work
Normally when I start a new job, I find someone who I really connect with. The job I started has so many interesting people, it’s hard to pick and choose who I like most. So, I don’t, I like them all.
There is Hannah who loves to draw. She interests and fascinates me because I am a writer and I’d love for her to illustrate my next book. There is Katie who I worked with last night for the first time. She has a love of books like I do. You'll find a photo of Katie down below. Two very nice people who I would never have known had I not started this job. Katie runs the kitchen in a military kind of way which I love, it reminds me of law enforcement. Roxanne is also someone I work with. I’ve probably worked with her and Hannah the most. Roxanne is also a very nice person raising a son on her own. I can relate.
I find it fascinating meeting new people, finding out about their lives, their struggles, their hopes and dreams. The people I’ve met and mentioned above are all way younger than I am. That being said they have all been super nice which is greatly appreciated by me. I have nothing bad to say about any of them. There is an older lady who works there also. Her name is Donna. When I say older, I mean around my age. The reason I’m mentioning ages is because the place employs a lot of high school kids. There is a younger guy who works there also, he is in his twenties I believe. He is quiet and also a very nice guy. His name is Carson. His photo is down below. There are too many guys who work there with their first name starting with a C. It gets confusing at times. Let's talk about Sharon, she trained me, she has been working in the restaurant for a long time. Her neice and my grandson are at the same school. Her neice is a teachers aid I believe, and my grandson a student. What a small world. Sharon is also a very easy person to get along with and work with.
At times it can be so busy there it borders on chaotic. We all push through together somehow and get things done.
There are more than a few personalities who work there. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise if some clash. Fortunately for me I haven’t been there long enough and like everyone who I work with. I’m easy to get along with and just want to work, get the job done and head home. I’m too new and do not like drama anyway and try to stay as far away from it as I can.
I’d say mostly it’s a pleasant atmosphere, with people joking back and forth but still getting their work done.
It seems as if wherever you go there is some amount of conflict between co-workers. People being people. Everyone does not get along all the time. Acting like an adult helps and eases a difficult situation if one should occur. We all can breathe a little easier, get back to work and forget about everything else. Do the job, do it right. No worries, no stress. It would be nice if it was like that all the time. But like I said, people are people. No two personalities are alike. We all need to take into consideration the other person's feelings.
Enough of that, like I said earlier. I enjoy working with whomever I’m working with. I’m easy to please and try not to take anything personally. It’s just easier that way. It's interesting to meet new people and forge new friendships. Shared interests help, and there are those who work there who share the same interests as I do. Normally I can find something in common with almost anyone. Finding that common denominator and acting on it brings out people's personalities and what they care about to the forefront of any conversation.
Me a people’s person? Never would have thought so. But I’m finding the people working there exceedingly interesting.
Here’s to going forward and learning more about each and every one of them.
