Which One Is it

Is it bare or bear? Is it write, or right? It could be there or their. What about creak and creek? Maybe it is it’s or its. What about hole and whole. There is always groan vs grown. Let us not forget hair and hare. My gosh we could go on and on, couldn’t we? One more hall and haul. So many same words, so many different meanings.

Words fascinate me. They always have and they always will. I am a word person. We have words like they’re also meaning they are. A totally different meaning than their.

Would it look silly if you wrote I was walking down the haul. Instead of I was walking down the hall.

The English language, I have been told, is one of the hardest languages to learn. There are so many slang words, and words that are similar to one another but spelled differently.

For instance, flour and flower. Wouldn’t it be silly if you said the flour smelled great. It has been known to happen.

I always go back to bear and bare. Same words big difference. A bare lives in the woods isn’t correct. It doesn’t look right, does it? Some people may think it is. They need their heads examined.

Is This Correct

The correct use of words is important. Not only for the writer but for anyone reading their work. Ate and eight are two more examples. Who knew there were so many? Cell and sell, eye and I. No wonder people have a hard time understanding this language.

I have loved words since I was a child. Words, books, and writing. They are in my blood. I breathe words and live to write them down.

Not All of Us

Not everyone does though. Some people care not what they write. The words they use have no meaning for them. It is a way to get through the day. I get a little crazy when I see people use words incorrectly. When I am on Twitter it happens a lot. Sometimes it makes me smile. Other times it drives me insane. I want to say, you cannot be that stupid, can you? To think that is spelled the way it should be. Maybe, just maybe they were in a hurry with their post and didn’t notice. That has happened to me. If I see it after I’m always mortified and delete the post.

Grammar is important and should be used correctly. Spelling a word correctly is something we all should practice and get right. Otherwise, it makes us look unintelligent. Nobody wants that.

Number People

Some people are number people, while others are word people. I’ve been a word person my entire life. Numbers confuse and bother me. I deplore numbers. Give me a word any day over a number. My brain must be wired differently. If given a fraction equation I will sit and ponder over it most of the day. Numbers do not connect in my brain. My husband Gary does numbers in his head. I cannot do that. He is the ying to my yang. He cannot figure out how to spell a word, he asks me. If I want to know approximately how big 64 inches is I ask him. It works for us. I thank God for him on numerous occasions. He doesn’t understand why I can’t figure numbers out, and I look at him with a puzzled face when he asks me how to spell a simple word. It is the way our brains work. Thank God, we found one another.

Bye bye for now. Or is it buy buy? Just kidding.

You all have a fabulous day.
