The Best of Times
What the best description of a grandparent consists of? Sugar and spice and everything nice. Being able to take the grandkids, spoil them rotten and hand them back to their parents.
Giving and loving. That’s what grandparents do. They are there to encourage, give their grandkids confidence. Tell them, “there’s nobody better”.
Take them to movies, eat popcorn and giggle. Make memories, have sleepovers. Read to them, but most important than all of the above is to love them to the moon and back. Always and forever.
Tell them if they get in a fight with mom or dad they can always come to grandma's house. The door is always open. They are forever and always welcome.
Grandmas are for baking cookies, sleeping on trampolines, even though your back is killing you and you get about four hours of sleep. It’s all worth it to see their smiles in the morning.
It’s taking them to a fair. Playing games and eating cheese curds, popcorn, and corn dogs.
It’s cheering them on at ball games. Basketball, football, and baseball. It’s watching them struggle and wishing you could take that away and just let them be happy. It’s life’s experiences the rough ones along with the fun ones.
Your Babies Baby
Being a grandparent is holding them when they are babies. Babysitting whenever you are asked. It’s storytelling off the top of your head. It’s mischief and mayhem and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
It’s jumping on the trampoline, and if you are a grandpa giving them rides on the snowmobile, or four-wheeler.
It’s making them laugh. It’s all of these things bundled up in one big heart. It is the best thing that’s ever happened to you.
The first time you laid eyes on them, you knew. This child will be forever in my heart. Being a grandparent is watching them grow. Their first days of school, the loss of their teeth. Their struggles and triumphs. You sit quietly by. You're at all their ballgames. Cheering the loudest, being the proudest. In your eyes they do no wrong. They light up the world with their smiles.
You'd Give Your Life
You would do anything for them. Please don’t let anyone hurt them. You don’t like their tears and you love their every smile.
You save every single homemade card they’ve ever given you. They hang on the fridge. It’s the best gift ever given on your birthday. You need nor want anything else.
A Grandma's Love
When they say grandma, I love you. It melts your heart. The greatest wish a grandparent has is for their grandchildren to grow up happy, full of self confidence, ready to face the world. The world is theirs to take. Go, make the most of it. Don’t ever settle, do your best and you will never fail. Kind and considerate is what they are. May they stay this way forever.
Being a grandma is the best. From baby, to boy, to young man. Grandma and grandpa are there every step of the way. Smother them with hugs and kisses. Spoil them and love them. They are only young for a short time. Don’t miss out. You can’t get it back. Once it’s gone it’s gone. Cherish the time you spend with them. Love every minute of it.
I know I do mine. To the moon and back. Always and forever.
