Update For Ernie

Our Visits

My husband and I continue with our morning and night visits with Ernie. He dances when he sees us, his eyes light up, and he wants to play. We hate leaving him beyond when we go. He stands and watches us leave. Worrying when we are not with him, we have come to a decision.

What Is Next?

Ernie has an appointment at the vet on January 4th. His owner has called the vet and surrendered Ernie to my husband and me. When we pick him up for his appointment, he comes home with us. He will never have to return to his former home. Excited as we are, it seems a long way away. Ernie is forever on my mind as I go about my day. Did he get let out to go to the bathroom? Constant worrying will soon come to an end.

He Comes Home

We wanted to wait until he was healthy. But his current living environment isn't the nicest, so we are taking him earlier than we thought. We will make it work with Sally, our Jack Russell. Making sure he doesn't get hurt further is a top priority. A trip to Menards was in order; we purchased a kennel for him with a bed to go inside. Maybe he will feel this is his safe place. The door will remain unlocked so Ernie can come and go as he pleases.

Waiting Patiently

Now we patiently wait until January 4th, 9:30 am. We will establish care for Ernie and find out what is wrong with his jaw and mouth. He will be able to come home with us, leaving bad memories behind. Hoping he feels a sense of safety with us. No more worrying about bathroom breaks; we have a doggy door and a huge fenced-in yard. He can go outside as he pleases, not tied to a cable.

Run Free Ernie

Run free, play, and sleep without fear. Not only will our days of worrying be over, but Ernie will also be at peace. No more looking over his shoulder, anxious, uneasy, wondering if he did something wrong.

It’s been twelve years; it’s time for Ernie now.  His turn to be in the spotlight; he’s been in the dark far too long. Ernie will be pampered and spoiled.  Grooming, baths, treats, and playdates with other dogs.  He has suffered enough, the suffering ends on January 4th.

Six days, we are counting down.

Stay tuned for further updates on Ernie.
