Ernie Update
Ernie Vet Visit
Today is Saturday, Friday was Ernie’s visit for his check up at the Vet. He came through with flying colors except for one set back. Ernie has a hole in his mouth from one of his canine teeth. It did not close as it should have. So, we wait a month to see if it closes on its own. If not, Ernie will need to have surgery once again to repair the hole. Praying that that is not needed.
Otherwise, he has a clean bill of health, he still has remaining stitches in his mouth that need to dissolve, but otherwise the vet said his mouth looks good. Chance of infection for the hole in his mouth, so we need to monitor his behavior for the next month. If he starts rubbing his face in the snow, (which he already does), we will need to call and notify the vet. She said he does it now because the stitches may itch as they come out. Also, if he has a foul odor, we haven't noticed that since his teeth were extracted. Before his surgery the poor guy did have an odor. He was in dire shape from neglect. All in all, he did extremely well. We were pleased with the results. He is still on medication for his thyroid and most likely will continue to be.
It Is Ongoing
So, it continues to be an ongoing saga with poor Ernie. Although his temperament stays the same. He is the same sweet loving dog he has been since we met him. His living conditions have improved greatly, and he loves nothing more than going out for his morning and evening walks.
Best Vet Clinic
We were very pleased with the Veterinary Clinic we chose for Ernie. Friendly staff and we love the vet, herself. His follow up visit from his surgery was a no charge. We thanked her profusely, considering we did not expect that. His medication was set up with an autopay, so we don’t have to worry about Ernie running out, it automatically gets reordered. Super nice, one less thing we worry about over here.
We Wait
For now, we wait another month, let’s all cross fingers and toes and hope Ernie’s mouth is all good on his next visit. That is about all we can do for now. Continue with our lives, and on another good note Sally has been good for a few days now. Nothing bad to report with her. Thank the Lord.
Stay tuned for updates in a month for Ernie. Unless an infection sets in, let's all pray that doesn't happen.
Footnote: Ernie has found my husband's feet and decided he is a foot licker. Does anyone else find that strange besides me?
