My Days
Sundays are my days to catch up with everything. Laundry, cleaning, running (although that is a daily thing) sometimes I run further on Sundays.
Sunday fun days. Now that I’m back to work my days off are precious to me. The day goes by way too fast. Soon it’s dark out and it’s time for bed.
Early Riser
But my day normally starts at 6:30 am. I’m out of bed and ready to go. It’s still dark outside and everyone else is still asleep. I make my coffee and eat my two pieces of peanut butter toast. The dogs normally smell my toast and come out to join me for breakfast. So, my two pieces of toast usually turn into one.
Time To Walk
After breakfast I’ll walk Ernie at the park uptown. My walks now consist of layers of clothing and a face mask because it’s cold. Boots, hat, and gloves and we are ready to go. Give me summer walking anytime. If I didn’t have a dog who loves to walk, I wouldn’t venture outside in the colder months unless I had to. Ernie loves his walks. He is 13 now so if it’s below 20 degrees we won’t go. It’s a long day in the house for him. He doesn’t understand which makes it worse. But it’s for his own good. The air below 20 is sharp and too cold for his lungs. Plus, his tongue hangs out of his mouth because he has no teeth. Ok, he has one tooth, a molar way in the back. It was his only good one and the vet couldn’t pull it because she felt bad for him. Poor guy. Anyway, I don’t want his tongue to freeze because he wants to walk. So far this winter we have been lucky with the weather. Today (Monday the 18th of December) it was cold, and the wind was strong. We should have gone back to the van before we did but Ernie wanted to walk.
Breakfast Time
Upon returning home I feed the dog's breakfast. After that it’s normally time to strip the bed, change the bedding and do the laundry. I also get the Roombas going and scrub the floors. In between all this I take the time to get up on the treadmill and run. The treadmill and I don’t like one another so I usually last for three miles. By that time, I’ve had enough and get off.
Sundays are reading days for me also. I usually have a book or two from the library. I can read the day away if it’s a good book.
Dinner time comes all too soon. Sundays are bigger meals because weekdays are not. I am normally working during dinner time, so Gary is on his own.
It's Dark Outside
Far too soon it’s dark outside and I’m wondering where the day went. When I retired, every day was Saturday. Not so much anymore since I’m back at work. Now I look forward to Sundays because during the week I run constantly. Whether it’s ballgames or work, Gary and I are always on the go. I guess that's what makes life interesting.
It Is My Life for Now
Would I have it any other way? Most likely not. Right now, I have too much energy to sit around and do nothing. So, this works for me. Maybe in twenty years I’ll want to sit at home and not mind it. But right now, it’s time to focus once more because the clock is moving and soon, I’ll have to get ready for work. Another Sunday is behind me and the week looms ahead.
It’s go time. Everyone enjoy their week.
