I'm Tired

Who else is tired of winter? Too much snow, below zero temperatures. I’m about done now. I’ve had enough and would like to see some warm weather, green grass, and sunshine.

We had too much snowfall yesterday. It was such a long day, getting ready to go outside became a chore. Snow pants, hat, mittens, boots, winter coat. To make matters worse the only thing that needed done was shoveling. I’m sure it could have been worse. There were three-foot drifts in front of our garage doors. Before the dogs could take a potty break the steps needed shoveling. There was a huge drift on the sidewalk by the deck where our steps end. The only positive thing I can think of is that it was light snow. It wasn’t the heavy wet variety. 

Long Days

Days seem long, nights even longer. We woke up with our furnace not working this morning. It was below zero outside and 58 degrees in the house. My husband went outside to discover snow had plugged one of the valves in our gas tank. He shut the gas off and now we are burning wood. We have three different types of heat we can use. Gas, wood, or baseboard. Normally if it’s below zero we choose wood. It warms the house up nicely. 

Stubborn Dog

In addition, we have a dog who normally goes to the bathroom on our daily walks. The air is too cold for him now so he isn’t going to the bathroom. Stubborn dog. So a short walk up at the park should do the trick. It worked the other day. Is there anything good about winter? At this exact moment I cannot think of a single thing. Other than wishing it was behind us.

My husband and I just returned from the park and it did indeed work. Once again, stubborn dog! Another reason I cannot wait for spring. Endless potty breaks, our doggy door is a mystery to him. He sees Sally disappear through it but it does not make a connection in his brain. He will trot to the front door and wait to be let inside. In his defense his entire life he was let out on a chain. So, blaming him is not right.

But the air is cold, too cold for Ernie’s lungs. Fresh snow is cruelly cold, hurting his paws. 

Crappy Weather

I am hearing through the grapevine that this coming Monday will not be good weather. Rain, then falling temperatures means ice. 

On a good note the month of February is about over. March, sometimes in March we have decent weather. Melting snow, the sun feels closer and warmer. I’m not sure if we’ve ever gotten through March without having a snowstorm. Here’s hoping March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lamb. Maybe this year we will get lucky and no snow will fall. The weather will just continue to get warmer and the days longer. Fingers crossed for an early spring, and then a bounce right into summer.

Winter, I’ve had enough!

This post was written a few days ago. We are through the worst of the weather and looking forward to sunny days and melting snow.
