Make It Hot
What kind of eater are you? Do you love spicy foods? Or does the thought of it make your stomach turn?
I'm a spice girl. The hotter the better. I love the burn on my tongue as it goes down. Indigestion isn’t a part of my world. For the most part. Basically, I can eat anything and not suffer any consequences.
Hot Peppers
J
Jalapeños are my favorites. I’ll have them in my omelets, my soups, and my rice dishes. Gary also loves hot and spicy. For the most part. Although he does get indigestion. His stomach isn’t as iron clad as mine. Chinese food is one of my choices. The hot and spicy chicken is too die for. I’ve tried making it but it never turns out as well as if we order in. Maybe that’s just in our heads. But we love it better if someone else makes it.
Many people do not eat spicy or hot dishes. When we have a party we have to tone down the hot and go with regular meals. Gary and I both love the hot Italian sausages. Everyone else not so much. So we save those for ourselves and go with beer brats or regular brats.
For me, I love it when I eat and my tongue is still dancing after the meal. Spicy livens up my mouth. It makes a meal memorable.
There are many different choices of cheeses that are hot and spicy. I know I used to work in a cheese store. We had specialty hot cheeses. I’ve tried them all. I’ve loved them all.
Bland No Thank You
The bland diet isn’t for me or Gary. When I make chicken noodle soup I’ll put jalapenos in it. It adds zip and flavor. My chicken noodle soup has not only chicken but also Italian sausage and Polska kielbasa as well. A lot of different veggies and chicken stock. I love making a huge pot and freezing it so in the wintertime we can pull it out and eat it. Nothing better on a cold winter day than a hot bowl of soup.
Buffalo chicken wings especially boneless wings are a family favorite also. Dipping them in a sauce completes the meal. Maybe with a side order of fries and a soda. Wings are always a great choice.
Shrimp Creole is another excellent choice. It’s spicy and delicious. Jumbo Polska kielbasa is a part of this meal along with the shrimp. This is a meal I’d choose over many others.
The Reaper
The Carolina Reaper is the hottest pepper. When I’m talking heat, this one is above and beyond the scale. While at work one day someone brought in some peppers. I grabbed one and took a big bite of it. Seeds and all. It was a Reaper. My mouth exploded and I couldn’t catch my breath. Tears ran down my face and my entire mouth burned. The seeds and the inner white membrane of a pepper are the hottest part. I’ve learned my lesson: a Carolina Reaper is nothing to mess with. That being said, put it in something and you’ll have a fabulous dish. Can you say heat?
Gary and I will continue on with our spicy meals. It is what makes our world turn. To each his own.
