It’s Almost Over
The year is almost over. By the time you read this post it will be a new year. It’s time to reflect.
This past year has brought many different changes. We rescued a dog in January; his name is Ernie. He brought many changes to our lives. Some of them not good in the beginning, but we got through it and are on the other side now. Big improvement on all our parts. Including Ernie.
New jobs and being unretired. Two new jobs, totally different from one another. Long days of work. Staying busy and no time to think.
Christmas was wonderful and full of family, games, love, and laughter. We all had a great time. It was over all too soon. Kids got more spoiled than they already were. But that’s ok. It’s what Christmas is for.
This past year has taught me a lot. Don’t sweat the small stuff, all things work themselves out eventually, and plow straight ahead otherwise you get bogged down in the muck of life and cannot get out. Be you.
Always set aside some time for yourself. Otherwise, life gets too entangled, you get stressed out, and everything implodes. Get out there and run. Breathe and enjoy the weather.
Always Do What You Want to Do
Do what you love to do. Whatever that is. Go, make the most of it because if you don’t you do not get it back. The day is gone, the week is gone, the month is gone, and then the year is gone. Soon your life will be gone. Poof in the blink of an eye. No more Wendy.
This next year brings an election year. We all need to collect ourselves and vote for who you feel is the best candidate. Stop with the hatred, and anger. Just show up at the polls and vote. It matters, your vote counts, it is your god given right to vote. So, use it as you see fit.
January brings with it many long cold days. It is my worst month. It seems endless and cold. February is short at least. I believe it is a leap year this year. So, 29 days in February. Make it special.
Date Night
Go on a date night with your hubby, go out to eat with your girlfriends. Get outdoors. Go on a hike, make sure a slow long climb up a hill is involved. Better yet run that hill. Motivate yourself. Start a fitness routine. You are never too old to run. Get healthy, eat right and exercise. Add years to your life. It’s better than sitting on the couch doing nothing.
Adopt a dog, it will bring a love to your life you didn’t know you were missing. If you aren’t a dog person, get a cat. Maybe chickens are your thing. Let’s ask my sister Tammy, she has them and she loves them. To each his own.
Look back at the year before and have no regrets. Move forward, be peaceful, but most of all love yourself.
Be happy and take time for yourself. Self-care is super important for our sanity.
