Right and Left

We all like to be right, we don’t like to be told we aren’t. But someone has to be wrong, don’t they? We cannot all be right. There are people out in this world who think they are never wrong. We can’t convince them no matter what we say, so it’s better off being left alone. To let them think they are right no matter how badly we want to tell them they are wrong.

Arguments come swiftly when two people speak about a subject and neither one of them is in the wrong. They have different views and each one thinks their way is the right way. Politics comes to mind. Try convincing someone who has an entirely different view than our own, that the way we believe is the right way. It cannot be done. We are better off saying, “you believe what you want to believe and I will believe what I want to believe.” If people could just leave it at that the world would be a much simpler place.

The truth is no one can leave it alone. We see it on Twitter, Facebook, google. Social media exploits the already terrible state of our country.

Who Are You?

Democrats and Republicans. Do we have to be either one? How about Independant? Voting for whomever we think will do the best job once they are in office. Oftentimes when a Democrat is President he doesn’t do anything right for the Republican party, same as when a Republican is in office nothing this President does will please the Democrats. We as a people are divided. Perhaps it would be better taking Democrat and Republican right off the ticket. How about the nominees are people without a title attached to their name? It would be so much easier and Congress wouldn’t have anything to argue over. They could work as one, instead of Democrats vs. Republicans. Accomplishing nothing because they are too busy bickering back and forth like a bunch of old ladies. We have all watched the State of the Union Address. Congressmen and women yelling out in anger as the President speaks, what happened to manners? There is so much hatred involved, where does it come from? Can our governing body not get together as one and solve the issues we have going on in this world? From where I am sitting it appears they cannot.

Debates No Thank You

The debates on tv are horrid to watch. Whoever gets the nominee disagrees with members of the same party beforehand-in order to come out on top. There is so much backstabbing and name calling with people in the same party. But once a nominee is chosen all those who didn’t agree prior with the nominee's views suddenly back everything they say. It doesn’t make sense to me. Is the party over people that strong in America? If we are staunch Republicans does that mean, we have to agree with everything they propose?

Manners Matter

The signs in yards I see as I walk by are divisive and derogatory. Is this the way we want to live our lives? No matter what we think of the other candidate, there is such a thing as decorum. May the best man win. Whoever gets voted in is the man for the job. The people have spoken. Not in America, apparently there are those who do not believe-they believe the current President is there by mistake. Where do they get these ideas? From news stations on tv, from our congressmen and women. If those who govern cannot keep negative comments to themselves-what chance do, we as people have? People will believe what they want to believe. There is no changing their mind so we may as well not try. When hearing a lie often enough the lie becomes the truth.

Is There a Solution

I do not foresee an answer or solution to the problem. It only worsens day after day. The state of the world continues to fall apart while members of our government who we elected argue and try to one-up one another. Shootings happen daily, Global Warming is out of control, fires, and hurricanes, and tornadoes destroy entire cities. People stand by watching their entire lives go up in flames, or their homes flooded, everything inside saturated by water. Ruined never to be recovered or restored. Precious family memorabilia forever lost.

If we do not share the same view as someone else that is the end of all ends. There will be no compromise, nor a resolution. Families have been torn apart over politics. Mothers not talking to their children, cutting them out of their life because of a political view. Can we not agree to disagree and leave well enough alone? Some things are better left unsaid. Whatever happened to, “If you don’t have anything good to say about someone else, don’t say anything.”

No News Is Good News

Watching the news nightly is something my husband Gary and I used to do. Now we avoid it if we can. Watching randomly, there is nothing being reported to make us feel better. Another shooting, another tornado, vehicle accidents, roads closed, people dying. It's a nightly newscast with nothing newsworthy reported. At times I think we are better off not being informed.

Those of us who lived through COVID realize it is alive and thriving and still making the news. Where did it come from is the new thing on the news. Is it really that important to know? It is here and deadly to those of us with a compromised immune system. Shouldn't we concentrate on that?

Simple Living

Living off the grid is an idea that crosses my mind from time to time. No internet, no social media, a much simpler way to live. Antenna tv, not watching the Presidential debates. Vote for who we believe will do the best job. Do not think Democratic or Republican, think individual. What does he or she stand for? Will this man or woman holding the most important job in our country make a difference? Can this person put a halt to the hatred taking hold and spreading throughout the United States? Because whether everyone realizes it or not, we need a drastic change. Things cannot continue to go on like they have. We will not survive as a race. We will not survive as a nation.

In 2024 we all can make a difference, it is our God given right to vote. Make it count. Wipe off the slate and start anew.

Let us all bring about a change for the good.
