Bad Owners
I believe with all my heart there’s no such thing as a bad dog. Innocent when born, placed in the wrong people's hands, any dog will turn into a bad dog. Why have a dog if you are going to chain him or her up outside. Dogs are social creatures. They love hanging around their humans. No dog (if you ask them) wants to be tied to a chain 24/7. This is no life for a dog. Or stuck inside a kennel all day into the night year after year after year. Whomever does this perhaps should ask themselves if they’d like it. Boredom sets in and they are no different than a zoo animal. I feel profoundly bad for them also and think all zoos should disappear. All circuses should do the same. Animals in a circus are wild animals. They belong in the wild. Captured, they have no choice. Behind bars and forced to perform. It must be torture for them. It is cruel and inhumane.
Pit Bulls
Back to dogs. I got off subject for a bit. Pitbull comes to mind when the public thinks of vicious dogs. I’ve known people who raise pit bulls who are the sweetest of animals. There is no sign of aggression in these friendly dogs. Once again, it’s the owner. Many pit bulls are bred to fight. Dog fighting, I’d love to find all people who do this and lock them up. Toss the key and leave them in prison for the rest of their sorry lives. Dog fighting is a cruel and inhuman way of life for a dog. Once again, they have no choice.
God Spelled Backwards is Dog
Dogs are too good for us as people. We are the bad ones. Not the dogs. Dogs won’t take us to a shelter after living with us for 12 plus years because we are old. Or because they want a puppy. What happens when that puppy grows up? People suck. Dogs are loyal to a fault. They are always happy to see us. They do not judge. People take dogs and tie them up somewhere and leave them. They move out of their house and leave the dog there on his or her own. They go down a deserted road and drop a dog off. Leaving that dog confused and asking himself what just happened. People suck. Most people do not deserve dogs. Most people should not have dogs. They do not know how to take care of them. Many do not take their dog to the vet. As they age dogs need medical attention just like people do. Instead men will take their dog out into the woods and shoot them. How anyone can shoot a dog that looks you in the eye when you pull the trigger is beyond my comprehension. People suck.
We Love Dogs Here
If everyone were like my husband and I, all dogs would live in the lap of luxury. We will feed our dogs before we eat. If we had little money our dogs would eat first, before us. Our dogs would be fat and happy, and my husband and I would go hungry. That’s the kind of dog people we are. Our dogs sleep with us, they are our top priority. They needn't worry about not eating, nor not having any water, or getting exercise. Gary and I do it all. They get their shots when needed, and when grooming is needed that gets done also. Does this make us better people than the person who walks by their dog who is tied up outside with no water or food. Yes, it does. People suck.
People Are Awful
There is no such thing as a bad dog. There are only bad people. I’ve seen a video of a woman throwing puppies into a raging river. I’ve seen dogs left outside in the dead of winter who have frozen to death. Once again, they have no choice, do they? A dog goes into a home where there is violence and abuse. That dog is not going to walk out of that home unscathed. People suck.
A dog attacks another dog. There is a reason behind it. This dog most likely comes from a bad environment. Once again, people suck.
The next time you hear about a dog attacking another dog take into consideration what that dog has been through. Most likely a bad home life, because aggression stems from fear.
So, don’t blame the dog, blame the owner. You know why?
Because people suck.
Side note: I always send my posts to my sister Tammy. She fixes my errors and critiques my story. She told me a story of a dog who grew up and became aggressive through no fault of the owner. The family didn’t teach him to be aggressive. Nor did they want him to be aggressive. He isn’t a bad dog; he is just a protective dog. He loves his family. There are normally two sides to every story. Nothing is ever one sided. I still firmly believe there are no bad dogs. It reminded me of the Beagle I had when my kids were growing up. He loved all of us, but for some reason he did not like other kids. I didn’t teach him to be aggressive towards kids. He just was. He was kept away from kids and did mellow out in his old age. He passed away shortly before his 16th birthday. I’ll love him forever.
