You are as Young as You Feel

At what point in our lives, do we as women give up the fact, we aren’t young anymore? We start wearing the mom jeans with the big pockets in the back. The waistline reaches to your boobs, creating a weirdly uncomfortable look. I’ve seen it and I am not ready for it. Is there a certain age we reach where we do not care about fashion anymore? We wear whatever old people are supposed to wear.

I'm Old Now I Admit It

Reaching the age of sixty is a milestone. No longer considered young, we are considered an elderly member of society. It is a hard thing to accept. Senior citizen discounts, a sudden loss of hearing and the clothes for elderly women-don’t get me started. We are at a crossroad. We cannot look in the junior department for jeans anymore. Shopping at the mall is something I haven’t done for quite a while now. Jeans have always been an issue for me for some reason. I never know what kind to buy. Some are too tight. I do not like the so called skinny Jean. I’ve seen older people wear them and do not think it’s flattering. Someone old trying desperately to be young. I do not want that. I need to dress within my age group. Where do I go to get the appropriate clothes? Jeans are clothing that need to be tried on before a purchase. I am not a fan of high waisted jeans. Although I do think they look good on the younger girls. But I don’t need a waist line so low my butt crack will be hanging out either. After all, who wants to see a 63 year olds butt crack? At the age of 63 I don’t believe women are called sexy anymore. Maybe I’m wrong. It makes me laugh though. I am not sure if I’ve ever been called sexy.

What Is the Style

The wider leg jeans are coming back into style. I’ve seen different women wearing them and I like them. We will see if they look good on me. I really do not know where to shop to find them. I’m afraid of going into a store where there are kids running all over. Looking and feeling like an old fool. The store clerk asking me if she could help me out. Looking at me oddly, as if in pity. Or just totally ignoring me all together. I think I’d prefer that. Leave me alone, I'll find my own pants.

Jeans have always been a complexity I cannot wrap my head around. I’d rather live in sweats. I have plenty of those. Jeans cannot be too tight around the midsection otherwise you look as if you have two love handles bursting at your sides. Struggling unsuccessfully to get loose. Even if the pants fit fine everywhere else. Nothing too tight in the butt area either. Constricting and uncomfortable is not what I want to wear. The jeans should be fashionably loose. Something you can wear all day without tugging and pulling and trying to adjust them. Nothing with holes in the knees, or holes anywhere. I’ve picked up pairs of jeans that looked like they’ve been through a shredder.

Do We Even Want to Try

Please ladies, let's not tuck in the shirt if you are wearing a high waisted pair of jeans. Especially if you have a stomach paunch. It’s quite unflattering no matter how you try and dress it up.

I’ll keep looking, casually strolling by stores I think may be a possibility I can shop in. Don’t go to Walmart, mom jeans are everywhere there. Target also. The thought makes me break out in hives.

For now I’ll stay in my sweats. After all, it's getting colder outside.

Jeans, the complexity pants.
