Destructive and Vile

You cannot see it

But it hides deep inside

Anxiously waiting

To show its true face

You try to hide it

Yourself denial is surreal

A trigger unlocks it

Uncertainty at best

It’s been inside you forever

Since the day you were born

So far, you’ve been lucky

It’s locked tightly away

Loneliness feeds it

It plans an attack

To throw you off kilter

Knock you to your knees

The silence is so loud

Too painful to bear

You wish it would leave you

Not ever to return

Wondering where it came from

The answer is swift

It’s always been there

Since the beginning of time

This feeling of revulsion

This self-loathing of mine

To cloak it in silence

Just shove it down deep

You’ve never been good enough

You see it in the mirror

Smile and no one sees

It’s gone once again

Until ugly resurfaces

This never truly goes away

Doubts bubble up

They pop and they burst

Bringing forth a revelation

It’s you that you hate

Never Measure Up

Self-loathing is a consequence, a feeling that you never measure up. You are never good enough; bad things happen to you for a reason. It resides in a lot of people. This feeling of inadequacy, of self-hate. You may have a perfection tendency that you struggle with. Trying to make everything perfect is not something that will happen. So, you always and forever come up with the short straw. Your world will never be perfect, because perfection is what you believe it to be.

Drawing from bad past experiences, bad relationships, or being on the receiving end of a bully brings self-loathing to the forefront.

Other people can make mistakes, but it isn’t allowed for you. Trying to be perfect in an imperfect society brings about failure with anything you try to accomplish.

Self-hate is destructive, as well as detrimental. Low self-esteem comes into play as well as believing nothing good should ever happen to you because you do not deserve it.

Are You a Narcissist

a sign on the side of a wall that says a culture of narciss

Many self-loathers are narcissistic. To the outside world they show one face but when they look in the mirror their true self emerges. They are filled with uncertainty, a lack of self-worth. Small and petty with a desire to strike back at their perceived enemies with a vengeance. A self-loather is their own worst critic. They will never measure up; they will always be on the bottom of the pile. Struggling to be perfect, while perfection doesn’t exist.

I say instead of hating yourself show yourself some love. Tell yourself it’s ok not to be perfect because no one is. Stop taking everything everyone says or does to heart. Be your own person. Find yourself before it’s too late.

Self-loathing accomplishes absolutely nothing. Look into the mirror and face yourself. Take it one day at a time and build up your self-esteem. It’s hidden inside you; you just need to find it.

You can be real about your shortcomings. But don’t let that override the fact that you deserve the best in this world. Make it happen. Go out and seek the truth. It’s looking you right in the face.

Squish it or squash it whatever you wish.

Just don’t let it take over your life.

Learn to love yourself! Enough said.
