What Is Going On?

We all should be worried about the state of our world, to not be is foolish.  We watch the nightly news and mass shootings are a commonality now. Shocking as they are, we are not surprised to see one after another after another. 

Is This Solvable?

How can we as a nation address this problem? First of all get rid of the AR-15’s. I can’t for the life of me figure out why anyone needs one. A hand gun for protection. Yes. But an assault rifle? Ban them. They have caused enough death and destruction this year alone (and it’s only May)  to give us reason to get rid of them. Kids are getting killed. This in itself should sicken us all. What has to happen for Congress to recognize and act on this? The President has done all he can, it's up to the house now. Members of Congress are too busy on social media to be of any help whatsoever. Their political aspirations appear to be more important to them than confronting a crisis. Check out their twitter accounts you’ll see what I mean.

Guns

People are always chanting, “You won’t take away our guns.” Keep your damn guns but ban the assault rifle for God's sake. How many more people have to die before we get a handle on this?

Mental Health

Trust me I know guns are only part of the problem. Mental health is a big part of this issue also. The mental health problem in America is on the rise. Almost every mass shooting we have, the shooter is mentally unstable. Taking his own life along with too many others. We need to confront and address it. Why are there so many mentally unbalanced people in today's society? It starts with family values, morals, the way our children are being brought up. We have way too many latch-key kids. Both parents working leaving kids as young as eight on their own. No structure, a lopsidedness that happens more often than not with today's families. 

It is not only a parental problem; the major problem is our economy. It takes two incomes in order to survive and feed a family. The housing market is horrible, gas goes up then down then back up again. Grocery store prices have skyrocketed. It seems the rich get richer and the rest of us suffer. Our government needs to step up and assist. Stop with the tweeting and social media. Stop with the hatred for one another, instead find a solution.

Let's Turn It Around

Can we as people help? Maybe contact your local Congressperson and go from there. It is a start. Also, as I said earlier, lets get rid of the assault rifles. The AR-15 seems to be the weapon of choice for an individual who wants to kill. I wouldn’t even know where to begin my search for a weapon like an AR-15. I just googled and apparently a gun like this is readily available anywhere you can purchase a weapon.  Enforce stricter gun laws. How are so many people who are mentally ill getting their hands on this type of weaponry?

None of Us Are Safe

Not one of us is safe anywhere. Not even in our own homes. Neighbors shooting neighbors. It seems as if everyone is so angry and full of hatred. Where does all this bottled up anger come from? I can name one source. Politics. We, as a nation, are divided, not united. This in itself causes problems. Because of a political belief families are being torn apart. The right hates the left and the left hates the right. Angry people are violent people. Social media only complicates and incites the issue. The violence continues endangering us all. 

I sincerely believe the shootings will continue to get worse. The violence will not stop, the hatred we witness spins out of control on a never ending loop. Black and white, are only colors. We all bleed the same.
