Do you talk out of your ass? This post will most likely be filled with profanity so if it offends you, please exit now. 

Working in retail means I meet a variety of different people. People from all walks of life. At times I’ll shake my head and wonder how many of them make it through the day. I’ve met the nicest people, and I’ve met the rudest people. Which one would I choose? It depends. Many of the pissed off people are madder at themselves then they are at me. So, I take that into consideration. 

I’ve been sworn at and given dirty looks. At times when I say hello the person doesn’t say hello back. They just stand there and stare at me. To me that is considerably rude. But hey, that’s just me. Live and let live.

Did He Say That

I had a guy come in the other night who wanted to buy a lighter and some cat food. I needed a birthdate for his lighter otherwise the till will not let me move forward. I asked him for his birth date. He said, are you kidding me for a lighter. I told him I couldn’t move forward without his birthdate. He was an older guy, and he told me his birth date was July 12th of 2001. I told him I wasn’t going to put a fake birth date in the till for him. He told me, I’m not giving you my birth date. So, in return I told him, well then you aren’t getting the lighter. He got upset and said, you can take this lighter and cat food and shove it up your ass. The guy standing behind him waiting look startled. His eyes got huge. The guy then stormed out of the store. The next guy came up and I said, well that didn’t go over well, did it? He said no, and then promptly asked for a pack of cigarettes. I asked him if he had an ID for it and he handed it over. I told him thank you. 

The guy who stormed out, was he upset with me? Possibly, but I believe he is just an ornery person in general, so I didn’t let it ruin my night. Being in Law Enforcement I’ve heard worse than that. People can be all kinds of ugly.

A Bad World

 The world today is full of ugliness, hatred and greed. The other day at work I saw a girl putting something in her backpack as she strolled the aisles. She was stealing. Our policy for safety reasons is to not confront them. Just report it and see if you can catch them on camera. So that’s what I did. I’ll often find open empty boxes of shit people steal because they can. Whether it be an anti-gas medication, to Tylenol, to soda. People take things. Maybe they need it, maybe they steal just to steal. 

Happy and Sassy

People in the world today are upset, ornery, cantankerous and downright mean. Hate has been pushed to the forefront of our nation and has found its place. It spreads like the disease it is. No forethought, just malice and prejudice. I’ll take it and place it where it belongs. Nowhere on my person. I choose to be happy and filled with a hope for our future. 

Call me crazy but I believe there are more good people than bad. Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to find the good.

Is there a solution to this madness? Who knows. Until then I’ll stand at the till and say who’s next.
