What Next

Isn’t it interesting where life leads us? What roads we travel down. Where we live, our life experiences.

Twists and Turns

I know my life has taken some twists and turns. Now at the age of 63 it has once again upended me. I’ve always been a fan of the library in whatever town I lived in, so, Stanley, WI isn’t any different. I’m starting part-time at our local library tomorrow. Where will this lead? There are endless possibilities, aren't there? My love of books, writing, reading, and libraries has been with me forever. It started back in the third grade for me. Although I’ve always loved to read, writing was something that came to me later in life.

My Blog

This blog has given me a sense of accomplishment. When I first started out, I wasn’t too sure of my abilities to keep it going. Although not being wildly successful I have my group of followers. It is enough for me.

Many Different Roads

I’ve had many different jobs. My path through life has taken me down many winding roads. Working in a factory for twelve years as I raised my kids was enough for me. Venturing into law enforcement suited me. This was my career. Every other job I’ve had since or before that does not compare. Retired from law enforcement I went on to work at a school doing janitorial work. Being a janitor was not the job I envisioned. It did not suit me at all. I lasted a year and a half there and that was only because I really loved the girl I worked afternoons with. She helped me enormously and became one of my closest friends.

Not so Much

I worked at a convenience store for almost a month. That was how long I lasted there. Working with employees who didn’t show up for their shift or call in does not bode well. Sitting in my vehicle not wanting to go in gave me the incentive to quit. Giving my two weeks' notice was the best thing i've ever done.

Loved the Pharmacy

Onto the next job. My next job was in a pharmacy. Starting out part time I loved the work. My part time turned into full time with too many responsibilities placed upon my shoulders. Lasting almost five years there, it was time to move on. Let me note I did enjoy working at the pharmacy and also connected with a couple of good people who I keep in contact with.

Can You Say Cheese

Not wanting to drive any distance I scanned the local newspaper looking for employment in town. I started work in a cheese store outside of town. While working there I met someone else who shared my love of animals. She lives on a hobby farm. We became fast friends; we meet for breakfast once a month to this day. Lasting a year there I retired and stayed retired for the next year.

Winter was long, my husband and I looked at each other wondering what we were supposed to do. Staying busy was now a priority for me so I once again browsed the local newspaper. Finding an Italian restaurant in the area I applied and was hired. I am currently working there.

I Love Libraries

The library was a place I always visited. They had a fundraising event I attended and to make a long story short, I’m involved in fundraising and also found myself another part time job. We will see how this plays out. I’m one who needs to stay busy so I’m thinking this will all work out. Never say never. I will put forth my best effort and see where it leads me. We all need to look at life like this. It tosses us chances and we need to take those chances. Sitting at home bored is not what I want to do.

My slogan has always been, She Believed She Could So She Did. It rings true with me and I try to design my life around it.

The library will be a job I take to heart. It involves everything I love. It’s sending me in a new direction; so, let’s find out where it goes. Always believe in yourself. Never surrender or give up. Live like every day is your last day. Grab that brass ring and hang on, after all there are no second chances.

As Tim McGraw says, live like you are dying.
