Rack Em

My husband bought a new toy he put out in the garage. A pool table to be exact. We shot a game last night and I had all my balls in before him but he wound up beating me. I am just playing for fun. Gary used to shoot on a bar league. So, he is more experienced than I am. That being said, I'm not a bad pool player. I enjoy the game. It’s fun and entertaining. One thing about my husband is he loves to win. He used to race motorcycles back in the day. Drag racing, he had many trophies and was quite an accomplished racer. He won many times. He doesn’t like to lose. Then again, who does. I’m thinking that is why I run. When I enter a race my only goal is to cross the finish line. No other expectations. I do not like to put that kind of pressure on myself. My nerves act up before a race starts. But once I begin running I’m fine. I’m really not a competitive person.  The pool table in the garage will give us something to do on those long winter nights.

Pool Tables Are Heavy

Getting the table out of the house it was in prior to ours took a Herculean effort on the part of four guys. My husband was one of them. Apparently pool tables are quite heavy. They got it loaded in the back of Gary’s trailer and he returned home. It sat for a day and my son stopped by to visit, he spent the night so Gary wanted to get the pool table out of his trailer and into the garage. My son Jeremy is a big guy and can lift heavy things. So he wanted to utilize him while he was here with us. The problem is he only had three guys. Himself included. Gary, being Gary rigged something up. One of his friends came over and between Gary, my son Jeremy, and his friend Rod they managed to get the table out of the trailer and into the garage. Gary said it was a piece of cake.

Bar League

Winter is coming and that is when pool league starts up at the bars. I think Gary is looking forward to it. It gives him something to do during the winter. He can also have his neighborhood pool friends stop by our house to shoot. Glad they will be in the garage. Old men gossip more than women do, Gary tells me stories. It is all in good fun and Gary enjoys it. So, what’s the harm?

It is one thing Gary and I have in common. We both enjoy the game of pool. Otherwise we do not have a lot of the same interests. Playing pool means spending time together which is always a good thing.

Oh Gary

Again, Gary being Gary, is now talking about replacing the felt on the pool table. Googling and looking for replacement felt. I said, what is the matter with what is on there? I didn’t see anything wrong with it. He wants green, what is on there is more of a gray color. I’m not sure what difference the color makes but I guess I have to let him dream.

I'll Be In the Garage

Spending time in the garage is not something I thought I’d be doing this winter. Gary often works by himself in the garage. He will be out there a big part of the day. It must be a man thing because I cannot understand the logic of it. Maybe I don’t want to know. It looks like I’ll be joining him this winter. If I get good enough at the game, we may have to keep track of who wins and who loses. Does that sound competitive? Maybe I do have a little in me.

Until then I’ll practice. Eight ball left corner pocket. Let’s go!
