Make Believe
Let’s all just keep pretending the world is ok. Because that is what we do. We go on with our life's day after day when our entire country is on the verge of collapse. None of us can afford to live anymore. Everything is so expensive, from buying a vehicle to renting or buying a home. My husband and I are lucky we are as old as we are. Our house is paid for, our stress levels are low. (sometimes) The only ones benefiting any more in this world are the super-rich. The rest of us sit back and suffer.
It's a Joke
Congress argues back and forth while nothing ever gets decided. Who has this affected? We the people. Do you think it matters to them? They sit there with their fat salaries; it doesn’t affect them at all. They could care less about any of us. The only thing they seem to care about is getting Hunter Biden in jail, and on the other side of the aisle going after Donald Trump. While the whole world is falling down around our ears.
Buy a House
The housing market is so high. My son and his wife want to purchase a home. The problem is the cost of a house is anywhere from $250.000 and up where they live. The $250.000 is a fixer upper. In my mind that’s crazy. I’d say just rent but rent isn’t cheap either. To me, renting is throwing your money down the drain. You have nothing to show for it. The house isn’t really yours and never will be.
High Gas Prices
The oil companies line their pockets while we get high gas prices. I cringe every time my car is close to empty. What will the prices be at the gas pumps?
Retirement No Way
No one can afford to retire anymore. Getting a part time job is a necessity. The money does not stretch far enough. Living paycheck to paycheck is not something anyone should be doing as they reach their golden years.
Everyone is Divided
The division in the country is nothing to laugh about. The left and the right. Both think they are right when in reality they are both wrong. We have a former president who’s hateful rhetoric spews from his mouth daily. He hurls insults with a viciousness that leaves me dumbfounded. He calls Chris Christie, “a fat pig.” “Sloppy”, and a “loser.” Is this really a man we want in the White House running our country? He is crass, unintelligent, and a narcissistic buffoon. He is crooked and always has been. My opinion is he is not a person who wants to unify our country but wants to divide and conquer. He is fixated on becoming president and there is nothing he will not do or say to accomplish this. Apologies to Kay and my son who are both Trump fans. I love you both dearly but cannot stand behind Donald Trump. At the same time, it is my belief you both have every right to back who you please. We need to unify and stand together as people. That being said, it seems as if we are light years away from achieving this.
This Land of Ours
What will this great land of ours be like when our grandchildren grow up? What do they have to look forward to? I, for one, am glad I grew up when I did. Raising a child now would not be something I’d want to do.
Pay Attention
With climate change the way it is, who knows if there will be a country left. California is constantly on fire. There are so many twisters, tornadoes, and hurricanes that cause such devastation. Entire cities demolished, memories lost forever as people try to pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives. I’ve seen on the news where houses on the coast eventually succumb to the water and slowly slide into the ocean. What next?
Hand in Hand
We need to work together, hand in hand. Otherwise, this isn’t going to work. We may as well all hang up our hats. Do we really all hate one another that much? Is there a resolution, a solution? Can we come together as people without bias, without judgment and fix this great country we live in?
Ask yourself what you can do-reach out a hand. Instead of hate let’s try love and kindness.
