Teeny Tiny

We have a kitten outside our house again. We had the same thing happen last year. Only it was in the fall, not the throes of summer. Gary spotted him yesterday. Last night when we went to bed, he was out on the patio meowing. I looked at him and he was so tiny. How can he possibly survive outside by himself? I’m not a big fan of cats but then again, I don’t want to see them hurt in any way. Plus, this is a kitten. He’s so little. I asked Gary, where does he sleep at night? Where does he sleep? It is summer but it still gets chilly at night. Does he go to sleep with the rabbits? They are all under our shed in the yard. He could cuddle up with them and stay warm. Poor thing is by himself, how did that happen? Where is his mama?

What To Do

The question is what we are going to do about it. Last year we made a house for the kitten over the winter and put out food. I do believe we were feeding the bunnies, and the mice, and not the kitten. Since there were rabbit tracks and poop all over the place. But no sign of a cat. I told Gary we weren’t doing that again. What to do, what to do. Maybe he will be gone in the morning, never to be seen again. Or maybe he will be out waiting for us.

At four thirty in the morning Gary took some milk outside for him. When he got to the patio the kitten was gone.  He left the milk out there for him. He also took some food out there, but I am not sure the kitten is old enough for food. He was that little.

Where Is He or She

Now it’s five o’clock and I can’t get to sleep again. So, I’m up. Looking around outside to see if I can find that dang kitten. He’s nowhere in sight. He is black and white so he shouldn’t be hard to spot. I’m not sure what we would do with him if he even let us get near him. He’s probably wild.

Dogs VS Cats

We have two dogs in the house. Ernie, our rescue has been around cats before. Sally doesn’t of course like cats, but she is so old now I’m not sure she would notice. That being said we can’t bring the kitten in the house because we don’t want him peeing in here. Cat pee is the worst smell and if it gets in your house the smell is almost impossible to get rid of. That means making him a bed outside. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have such a love for animals. Things would go a lot easier on me. I wouldn’t worry about the kitten, wondering where he was. If he had a warm place to sleep, or food to eat. Such is life, I am how I am and there’s no changing it. So, I deal.

A New Day

It’s a new day, it’s time to get up now. There is no sign of the kitten. That doesn’t mean he won’t be back tonight when it gets dark outside, and he feels it’s safe enough to venture out. We will play it by ear and see what happens. I told Gary if he lets us pick him up, we will have to take him to the animal shelter. At least he’d have a warm bed to sleep in, plus he is adorable so I’m sure someone would take him.

Here kitty kitty.
