We All Have Them

Insecurities, we all have them. If someone tells you they do not, most likely they are not telling the truth. Those feelings that lurk way down deep inside us. We’d like to say we keep them buried so deep they never pop up. But that isn’t telling the truth either. Because they do pop up at the most inopportune moments.

Job Interviews

Sitting waiting for a job interview, suddenly horrific thoughts enter our mind. We start to sweat, our hands get clammy, and beads of perspiration pop out on our forehead. Why would they want to hire me? I’m not good enough. What do I have to offer? A calamity, a crisis in the making in our mind. We take deep breaths, struggling to breathe. All the while a sense of pending doom is in the air. An urgency to flee hits us. We have serious doubts about our ability to focus and present ourselves in a professional manner. What were we thinking coming here, vying for this job? We are in way over our head, a decision made we stand and exit the building. Interview over before it started. Back to the drawing board. If this has never happened to you, count yourself lucky. It happens to the best of us. We all have that inner voice, the one we hate listening to. The one that tries to override our self-worth, leaving us shaking and riddled with doubt.

Be Confident

Lack of confidence. It’s as simple as that. It befuddles and confuses as well as constricts our lives. We’d like to be sure of ourselves at all times. In a perfect world we would be. But this isn’t a perfect world. Nor are any of us perfect. We all fall flat on our faces from time to time. How we bounce back and recover from it shows what we are made of.

Am I good Enough?

One of the top insecurities most people have is the feeling they do not measure up. They are not smart enough. Not one of us wants people to think we are unintelligent, stupid, or dumb. It has sidelined the best of us. Rendering us speechless as we try to salvage an insane situation of our own making, that somehow got horribly out of control. We need to stop listening and start taking charge. Push all doubts aside allowing our intelligence to shine through. We know it’s there; we just have to own it.

A deep seeded insecurity can interfere with life as we know it. Feelings of inadequacy or helplessness is our own self-perception. A mundane task may seem insurmountable if we let this lack of confidence and inferiority control us. Belief in yourself goes a long way.

Don't Judge Me

Judge Judy's show is ending after 25 years. Here's how one of the highest-paid personalities in ...

Perhaps the utmost insecurity is our fear of being judged by our peers. Feeling self-conscious, fearful or nervous while in front of others. It doesn’t matter if it’s co-workers or family members. This leads to low self-esteem, overthinking, it is a root fear. Maybe stemming from something back in your childhood. None of us like to be judged. None of us should be judged-although we are. It happens, it’s unavoidable, it’s life. The feeling of being inferior is strong in some, it affects their ego and their self-image. We aren’t made of stone, words cut quick and leave a devastating after effect.

What is the root cause of all insecurities? Lack of self-esteem. Taking time for self-care is important. Value yourself, kick thoughts of self-doubt to the curb. Take a walk, go for a run. Supportive friends, job security, family. it all leads to a feeling of well-being. Trust in yourself.

Insecurities, who needs them.
