Everyone Has an Opinion
We all have our own opinion. Who says mine is right and yours is wrong? Isn’t it a matter of opinion? Many people are outspoken to the point of the rest of us wanting them to zip their lips.
Let's Talk Religion
There are others who seem to have no opinion at all. Their answer is, “whatever works.” I believe we all need to have an opinion, whether we are discussing politics, music, religion, or the weather. The second to last can be a hot topic. Everyone has an opinion on religion. Many families do not want their son or daughter to marry outside their religion. It tears families apart.
Respect Everyone
While we should respect everyone else’s opinion, not everyone does. Their way is the correct way. There is no other recourse in their mind. Stubbornness comes into play, words are spoken, families are broken. I’ve witnessed it, it’s heart wrenching and unavoidable at times. My opinion versus their opinion. They both are equally important. Nothing should stand in the way of my right to say what I’d like to say, and same with the other person. They have the right to speak their mind. Let them share their viewpoint.
Not a Fact
They say people's opinions are a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. This is important because of that very fact. Not based on fact or knowledge. This is the reason we say it is an opinion. Which is why we start by saying, in my opinion. This way others know it is our personal opinion. Not a fact or knowledge. An honest opinion is often the best advised opinion. By being honest people can relate and respect our choice of words. Therefore, finding us relatable and trustworthy. Someone they should listen to with earnest. Serious and knowledgeable about the subject matter at hand.
Politics Oh My
In politics, finding a politician who has an honest opinion may be hard. Most say whatever it is they think the public wants to hear in order to get elected. They care not about our opinion after being elected. Our government needs revamping in a bad way, in my opinion. We all need to band together and start our own governing party. Perhaps this would be a solution to many problems we face. But, then again, that’s my opinion. I’m sure many disagree. I believe with every fiber of my being it is their choice to do so.
What about a shared opinion? Can two people have the same opinion? Yes, indeed they can. We often find this when one person does not want to outshine the other with their own opinion. They go along with whatever opinion their friend has. Kind of like shadow boxing in a way.
In all reality everyone needs their own opinion. We really are not people if we do not have an opinion. Granted, some people do not know when to keep their opinion to themselves. Resulting in arguments and hurt feelings. Some things are better left unsaid.
What best defines an opinion. An opinion is a judgment, viewpoint, or statement that is not conclusive, rather than facts which are true statements.
Different Opinions
Can two people sit down together and discuss topics they have different opinions on? Absolutely. That is, if the two discussing have an open mind and can see a different viewpoint other than their own. If this isn’t the case, oftentimes the discussion becomes heated. Insults are tossed back and forth. Before you know what’s happening fists are flying and the police intervene.
Maybe take this as a hint:
Before shouting out an opinion, make sure it will be well reciprocated.
