I’m a Green Kind of Girl
Since I believe in health and fitness, being green and pro-environment makes sense-smog; litter and plastic it has to go. Otherwise, we won’t have planet earth much longer. Slowly it’s being destroyed; humanity has a way of destroying the most beautiful things. So, why not the world?
Pollution It's Ugly
Pollution’s an ugly word. Drive through cities and witness them in their proper form. The smog is so thick the sky looks hazy and brown. The sun has to penetrate that layer of haziness, resulting in cooler temperatures. The quality of our air is also affected by smog from big factories. Billowing massive amounts of Pollution into the atmosphere is an everyday occurrence. People living in bigger cities grow accustomed to it and do not notice it. It does affect nasal passages, as well as cause a burning sensation in the eyes. The bottom line, it doesn’t have any positive qualities; it makes for a poorer quality of life.
Plant Trees
How can we help? Plant a tree; trees give off oxygen. Stop burning your garbage. I think this is for country folks. Switch to an electric vehicle. Or limit the time spent in your current car. For those living in bigger cities, take transportation.
Recycle Please
Recycling and reusing are two other important ways we can help. Stop using plastic altogether. A plastic soda bottle thrown out of a car window can take anywhere from 20 to 500 years to decompose-a plastic bag even longer.
Reusing anything from straws to grocery bags, each of us can do a small part.
Take a shower instead of a bath. Conserve water. Turn off the lights when not in use. Gosh, there are many ways to contribute—volunteer for clean-ups around your neighborhood. Not only will things look better, but you will also have a sense of satisfaction for a well-done job.
Buy Green
Buy green; there are so many products made today from recycled materials. Here are just a few, water bottles, battery chargers, the clothes we wear, and the blankets we put on our beds.
We All Should Worry
If you are not worried about our environment, you should be. I just read a statistic that said Americans throw away 25 trillion Styrofoam cups yearly. Much of our water supply is not usable. It’s an unending catastrophic calamity many people do not take seriously.
We Do Our Part
Living in the country, my husband and I try to do our part. We plant trees, recycle, plus reuse. We are one tiny dot existing in the sea of people who inhabit the planet. Can you imagine the effect if everyone pitched in and participated? We have grandkids, so we’d like the earth to be inhabitable for their future. Let’s all do our part.
