I know I’ve written about Derek Entrekin before. As owner of Edwin Marie Web Design Derek is a fountain of knowledge. He makes the hardest of tasks seem easy. His vast knowledge of the World Wide Web and designing websites amazes me. 

I'm Old

I am 63 years old, so my knowledge is limited. Derek designed my website for me, this on its own is incredible because normally he works with businesses. He doesn’t usually tackle personal websites like mine. 

I must have worn him down because he decided to help me. Help is an understatement. Derek went way beyond helping. See, my blog right now isn’t making me any money. Being a writer, I love writing different posts about my life. There is a select group of people who read my posts, but I am far from having millions of viewers. This suits me fine because that isn’t the reason I do it. Writing and reading have been such a huge part of my life. I’d be lost if I didn’t incorporate them into my everyday existence.

Anyway, to continue on, if it were not for Derek and his helpfulness I wouldn’t be where I am today with my blog. When first starting I knew nothing about building a website. Who am I kidding? The whole idea was foreign to me. That being said, I plunged ahead blindly until I hit a brick wall. Not knowing which way to turn I googled website designers. Edwin Marie Web Design popped up. They are located in Thorp Wisconsin, which is a border town from me. I called Derek and spoke with him. At first, he wasn’t sure he was going to assist me but as I said earlier, I must have worn him down because he jumped in with both feet and designed my website. I started the process on my own through a hosting company called Bluehost. When a year had gone by Derek suggested I go through a different host called Web flow. Not as expensive. So, Derek being Derek, he switched everything over for me. Now, I know he is super busy so making time for me is something he does. He is a genuinely nice person, who I am sure gets frustrated with me but never allows me to see that frustration. He always says, “Wendy, this is what I'm going to do for you.” Then he gets it done. At times he doesn’t charge me what he should. I know this for a fact. Thanking God daily for him is something I do. If it were not for him, I’d have given up long ago. 

He Is Just a Good Person

In this dog-eat-dog world Derek’s goodness shines through like a beacon. It’s been over a year now since I’ve started my blog and I thought enough time had passed and I was knowledgeable enough about my blog. Giving Derek a much-needed break from me. But it was time to renew and time to pay because nothing is free in this world. Receiving an email, I forwarded it to Derek asking him about renewals. He got back with me and told me to not renew with the same business because their charge was $444.00 yearly. Telling me to switch to Google. He gave me instructions, low and behold I did get my domain switched over to Google which saved me an extraordinary amount of money. Thank you, Derek, for that. Receiving another email saying that my website was now under Google I went online to check it out. It said, “website not available.” Panicking again and once again pestering Derek, I shot him an email explaining. He emailed me back and said there were a few things left I had to do. Giving me instructions once again I followed his orders and of course I couldn’t figure it out. Feeling like a dumb ass I emailed Derek once again. He called me and walked me through steps so he could log into my website and update everything. Five minutes later he said,” ok, you are back on.” Seriously, the man is amazing and so very helpful. 

His kindness along with a genuine passion and desire to help people make him stand out. He is a shining example of warm-heartedness in a fast pace, ever evolving technical world. He didn’t have to do what he has done for me but that is the kind of person he is. We could all learn from him.
