It's Time
No one deserves to get their mouth fixed more than Ernie. How long this little dog has suffered is unknown. His yips break my heart; hopefully, after tomorrow, we won’t hear them again.
He Needs His Sleep
He sleeps a lot now, unsure if it’s the anti-biotic or just the fact his poor body needs rest. The faster this day goes by, the better off we all will be.
Poor Ernie
Ernie barely touched his breakfast this morning. We’re unsure if his stomach is upset because of the medication or if he just wasn’t hungry.
Always In Pain
We have not heard from the vet yet, so we cannot give him his pain pills which he badly needs. Today will be the day she will call; maybe he can have a peaceful night's sleep tonight, no breakfast in the am for him. We will be leaving early, so it will be fine. After his surgery, I’m sure he will not be hungry, only sleepy.
He Lives to Walk
He did get excited when he saw his leash. He lives for his walks. Nose to the ground, he smells everything. He was lifting his leg to pee even when nothing came out. His scent, he leaves it everywhere.
He Loves Our Yard
Last night on his final potty break, he discovered the rabbits we have living under our sheds. His nose to the ground, we must have been outside for half an hour. As hurt as he is, he still has a zest for life.
Oh, Sally
His tail wags, and he wants so badly to be friends with Sally. But so far, she doesn’t want to give him a chance. Sad, but she will eventually come around when she figures out, he isn’t going anywhere. He is here to stay. She had the same attitude when we adopted Rexie, our other Jack Russell. She is a dog who needs to be the alfa dog in our home. Ernie will accept this as he is wary of her already and will let her be in charge. He wants to play and run.
Let's Hope
Hopefully, this is my last sad post; tomorrow is D-day. Ernie’s surgery cannot come too soon. The pain he feels now will soon be a forgotten memory. Here’s to keeping our fingers crossed.
Stay tuned for updates on Ernie.
