Chapman Park
My husband and I live in Stanley, Wisconsin. We have a park downtown called Chapman Park. I walk our dog there every morning. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. I take many photos. The sun is just right at that time in the morning, it reflects off the water. There are geese, eagles, elk and deer in abundance at the park. Ernie and I walk early, around seven thirty. Early for me anyway. I am not a morning person and have to have breakfast and coffee before we go.
Let's Go Mom
Our rescue Ernie is always anxiously waiting to go. He sits and stares at me as if to say, let’s go already. So, he and I head uptown in our dog van. Yes, we have a van for our dogs. It’s Gary’s old work van. This way my car and his truck don’t get full of dog hair. It works for us. Anyway, Ernie and I head uptown to Chapman and get out and begin our walk. Our daily walk lasts for an hour. Ernie loves to sniff and will stand in one spot for five minutes. This is normally when I will take my phone out and start taking photos. At times we run across other dogs. I’m always on the lookout since Ernie was attacked by two dogs not long ago while we were out walking. If I spot dogs, I’ll go the other way. We used to do meet and greets with other dogs. But that went by the wayside after he was attacked.
I Love Parks
Our route takes us to another little park across from Chapman. We stroll down a sidewalk that leads to a dam. The park is on the other side of the dam. We walk through this park and head up a snowmobile trail. This year there is no snow, so we’ve walked it all winter. There are a lot of smells on the trail for Ernie who loves walking this way. This walk will take us back to Chapman Park.
Many days there will be people fishing, kids playing on the park swings and merry go rounds. It’s a nice place for anyone to walk through. The elk herd fascinates me, and I love watching the deer. Ernie doesn't know quite what to make of either one of them, so he ignores them.
The eagles sitting high in the trees looking for their breakfast. I think they feed on baby geese. I’ve never seen it and I don’t want to. They are majestic birds and I love watching them soar in the sky.
Ernie Loves His Walks
I believe Ernie loves this time we spend in the park as much as I do. He is always reluctant to leave. I usually let him lead the way when we go and tell him this is his time. He always takes the same route. Up by the campgrounds and around the park. Picking up garbage we find along the way. Why people toss their garbage on the ground is a mystery. There are dumpsters in the park, along with single garbage cans. It’s like people don’t have the time nor the inclination to use them. They drop things where they sit on the ground. I’ve picked up numerous pop cans, wrappers, McDonald bags, etc. I can’t stand the mess and it destroys the beauty of the park. I’ve never understood people, so I’ve given up trying to.
The serenity and beauty of the park make me calm. It gives off only good vibes. The sun, the quietness and the fresh air. It doesn’t get any better. It gives my morning the start it needs.
Enough feel good for the day. This is my light and airy post.
Not like my norm, which is dark and murky. Love dark and murky. It is a part of me, like liver is to onions.
