Which Do You Prefer
I love the country. I’ve lived in the city for years. I’ve had enough of it and country living suits me. To me there is nothing better than waking up, making coffee and sitting out on our deck. We have fields and woods to look at, not the window of a house that is right next door to us. City living has its pitfalls. When you look out your window you don’t see deer, you see other people. Maybe the neighbors are mowing their grass, someone else is walking their dog down the sidewalk. It’s busy, it’s loud and it’s not for me.
Some people love living in the city. A short walking distance to anything. There is always something to go to. Something happening you cannot miss. It is a faster way of life.
Take It Slow
If you want a slower paced life, try country living. Feeding the animals, mending fences, gathering eggs. Wide open spaces as far as you can see. Big blue beautiful sky with no skyscrapers in sight. Just endless sky. No honking horns, little traffic, and where we live an occasional horse and buggy. It’s heaven and I love it. I do sometimes live vicariously through my sister Tammy. She has chickens and lives on 80 acres. My idea of heaven. All that land the possibilities are endless.
Country Living
Can you ride a horse in the city? Or walk around naked on your property if you want to? The police would be at your door in no time flat. We can do that in the country. In the country, time slows down. It means more. Your days are longer, and your nights are filled with frogs and crickets singing you to sleep. Mornings are delicious while you stand out on your deck and drink your coffee. Soaking in the sun, lounging on your outdoor furniture. It doesn’t get any better than that does it?
Does The City Do It for You
Some would say yes. Living in the city you are close to places to eat, grocery stores, parks to run through. The city is a bundle of activity. Vendors on the streets hawking their wares. People everywhere. Don’t worry about being alone, you won’t be. Although if you live alone in the city and have no friends close by the city can be a very lonely and scary place. People everywhere yes, but they are all headed somewhere. They all have a place to be that they should have been five minutes ago. No one looks at one another, nobody sees you. They all have an agenda and a filled appointment book. It’s more expensive to live in the city. Rent is outrageously expensive. It’s tossing your money down the drain. The place will never truly be yours. If that’s something you’re ok with then have at it. I’d rather own a house. Something that’s mine. Gary and I can do whatever we want with our house. We own it. It’s paid for. No restrictions. No living in a housing development where you can’t have certain things. Like a fenced in yard, or an automobile in the driveway.
Dream A Little Dream
Dream your dream. Where will you wind up? Many times, if you grew up in the country, you’d like to try city living. It also works the opposite. Growing up in the city can make you lean toward country living. I choose country living. Peace and serenity. Over chaos and hurry, hurry, hurry. After all, I am now 64. There is nowhere I need to be right now. Summer is beginning, my flowers are waking up. There isn’t any other place I want to be more than right here at this moment.
Give me peace of mind.
