Busy, Busy
Is your life busy? I just turned 64 in May, and I’ve never been busier. With two part time jobs, plus fundraising for the library. I’m a busy woman. Let’s not forget the most important thing Gary and I do, ball games for the grandkids. I don’t have time to sit. I had to buy a planner so I could write everything down. Now if I can just remember to look at it.
Retirement, Not Yet
When I retired, I had one winter where I didn’t work. Both Gary and I got bored halfway through the winter. Sitting around looking at one another wasn’t enough. Cleaning the house only lasts for so long. Then what do you do? It was a long winter.
Back to the Grind
Work was the answer I was looking for. Now, with two part-time jobs, plus fundraising for our local library. I have zero time. Throw in attending ball games for the grandkids. In my book the most important thing, we are busy. It is what it is. Being busy beats sitting around twittling our thumbs and looking at one another, which is what we did last winter. Gary loves sitting in his recliner watching tv more than almost anything. That being said, even he gets bored and has to get up and do something. Sitting around as we age isn't good for us anyway. The need to stay active is strong in me. I am still running more days than not. Even if it is a little 3-mile jaunt around the block. It wakes me up and gets me going for the rest of the day. A planner is what was needed, so I bought one. All my appointments are noted, as well as the kids ball games. Ernies grooming appointments, and my hair appointments. Random things that come up will also be noted and written in. Everything will be in the planner. As soon as I wake up, have my coffee and peanut butter toast (which is a staple) I'll look at the planner and see what my day consists of. Today the only thing written in is work. Easy enough. A planner. Who knew I couldn't get through the day without one. Forgetting is what I did. I forgot our last library fundraising meeting. The planner was nonexistent at the time. I do have the meeting for the one coming up duly noted so should be able to attend.
They are Only Young Once
Would it be easier if we didn’t work. We could go to more ball games. I miss not going because the grandkids are only young once. If we don’t go, we cannot get that back. It’s gone forever. So, we go to as many as we can. We love watching them play.
No, You Can't
Plus, I’m stockpiling money into my savings now. It helps, and we all get used to a paycheck. Or in my case two paychecks. You can never have enough money.
Summer in Wisconsin
If we weren’t working, what would we be doing? Summer is right around the corner. It’s flowers and sunshine and running. Being outdoors from sunup till sundown. Bonfires, marshmallows, s'mores. Warm weather, what more could you ask for. Summers in Wisconsin are beautiful and too short. So, I like to take full advantage.
Don't Bother Me
Although constantly running is wearing and sometimes puts me in a mood, I wouldn’t have it any other way. When I go to work, I put on my, “it’s time to be in a pleasant mood”. It normally lasts through my workday. Although at times when people leave, I shake my head. It takes all kinds to make the world go around, and they all come into the store I work in.
Worker Bee
A busy bee makes more honey. That’s me. At times I can be sticky, and sometimes I have a sting. But I am a queen. That’s me, I’ve decided I’ll be queen for the day anyway. Screw everyone who doesn’t like it. It’s my day. I'll make the most of it. Don't mess with me and you won’t get stung. We all need to be the queen once in a while. I’ve been a worker bee my entire life. It’s pulled me through the tough times. I’ve come out on the other side.
For once in my life, I’ll be selfish and take care of myself. That being said I have to head into work at 3. You know what that means.
I’ll save my selfishness for another day.
