Movies
My husband and I go to the local theater in Stanley Wisconsin occasionally. With so many different options on our tv, the theater isn’t something we frequent often. We have Max HBO at home and watch movies from there in the comfort of a recliner and couch. Buy some popcorn and we are all set.
Sitting in a theater is something I enjoy though. I take my grandkids to the animated ones and all three of us love them. A big tub of popcorn and a diet soda, here we go. Memories made and kept.
It's Fun
Why go to the theater when everything is available right at home? I believe it is the experience. Sitting with people you don’t know. Plus the screen is so big. You don’t want to sit too close and have to look up the entire movie.
You get your tickets online now. Everything is online. Purchase your tickets and show them the receipt on your phone. Nothing like the old days waiting in line at the theater and buying your tickets on site. The only thing now is getting your popcorn and soda. Technology I guess it’s the way of the future. Somehow, I think things were simpler way back when.
What kind of movies do my husband and I go to? Well, we’ve been to Westerns, Mission Impossible, different genres so whatever we think we will like. A movie that doesn’t have Gary sleeping in his seat is a movie he likes. It doesn’t take much to lose his attention. Most of the time I wind up watching it by myself. Especially if we are home and he’s in his recliner.
Horror Oh No
I used to like horror shows but cannot watch them anymore. Especially movies like Halloween, Friday the Thirteenth, and so forth. Slasher films. I’d rather watch a thriller or a documentary. Documentaries are my favorites.
To tell you the truth, I'd rather read a book than watch a movie. Gary will tell you this, as many times when he is watching a movie I will read. Unless it captures my attention. Then I’m all in. We saw an old one the other night with Sidney Poitier. He passed long ago but was a legend in his time. It wasn’t a bad movie for being old and I enjoyed it. Most times Gary says I don’t give the movies a chance. Probably true, especially comedies. If they are stupid, I cannot watch. Many of them are.
Love My Grandkids
My grandkids and I go to the movie theater in a nearby town. They have reclining seats. A luxury in itself. The one we have here in town does not. Although it is a nice theater. They redid the entire inside. At least now the seats have cup holders, where they didn’t before. Where do you put your soda? Gary and I both believe in helping out the city in which you live. So, if we go to a movie, it will be in Stanley. Support your city.
In the fast-moving times of today's world. I’m not sure people go to the movies much anymore. It’s a sad thing. A lot of tv isn’t worth watching, for us anyway. People's lives are so busy now. It’s hard for families to sit down together to watch a movie.
I’m hoping movie theaters do not totally fade away. I, for one, enjoy the experience.
Especially here in town when I get my popcorn, I’ll ask for extra butter. The girl will turn and shout, make it sloppy.
It’s the little things.
